February 07: Evelyn is Citizen of the Year
Evelyn Crawford was presented with Drylaw Telford's Citizen of the Year award by CC chairman Thomas Brown on 31
January. Evelyn is the seventh recipient of The Thomas Tierney Award for Good Citizenship.
January 07: Sue Clark steps down
Sue Clark has resigned from the community council. Sue, who became a CC member as a representative from the Pilton
Elderly Project at last May's elections, is moving from the area. Our best wishes go to her.
January 07: Work to start on Groathill Road North lights
Work is due to start on the installation of new traffic lights at the foot of Groathill Road North later this month.
December 06: Evelyn is Citizen of the Year
Drylaw Telford CC members selected Evelyn Crawford as the 2006 recipent of the annual Thomas Tierney Award at their
December meeting.
Congratulations, Evelyn!
On a more sombre note, CC members also agreed to donate £50 to a Wester Drylaw family whose house was burgled just before
Christmas, stealing childrens' presents in a particularly despicable crime. members also donated generously to a collection
taken at the meeting.
November 06: Provost opens Telford March
Lord Provost Lesley Hinds formally opened the new Telford March social housing development off Telford Drive.
November 06: Drylaw Goes Green!
Members of the Drylaw community, young and old, were out in force this month to plant thousands of spring bulbs on the
open space off Wester Drylaw Place. Joining CC members and the Edinburgh & Lothians Greenspace Trust team were volunteers
from Drylaw's Rainbow Club and Ferryhill School pupils.
September 06: Green Flag for Ferryhill
Congratulations to Ferryhill Primary School, who have just received the prestigious Eco School Green Flag award for their
environmental achievements. Green MSP Robin Harper called in to the school to pass on his congratulations.
August 06: Lord Provost hosts Telford lunch
Local councillor Lesley Hinds hosted a celebratory lunch at the new Telford College building following the official
opening by First Minister Jack McConnell.
She went on to unveil a statue to mark the event.
